Postscript
Initially, Warnock's Dilemma fell onto my head like a bucket of bricks at a time justafter reading some snippets about the Fermi Paradox. The similarities between alien life forms and friendly participants in many internet social gatherings may not be readily apparent. Or, maybe they're more alike than we'd like to admit.
The non response, lack of response or preponderance of obfuscatory replies to our questions have left many of us in frustrated state -- something I'd like to equate to a Warnockian Dilemmatic Moment (or Space). On the preface to the slide show, this frustration is described as
Why won't anyone answer my question(s)?
Taken literally, one may be quick to point out -- "It's easy to get answers to your questions . . . simply google the question and you'll automatically get 4.3 trillion responses". Perhaps the question would be better encompassed if expanded as follows:
Why won't anyone provide an epistemologically satisfying answer my question(s)?
Cogito, Ergo Tomato Soup? I think. I am. How do I understand the book of nature in which "I am"? On the occassions when we do get responses to our questions, oft they tend to be in a state where it's very difficult to scrape the noise from the signal. Our attempts to uncover a higher enlightenment may simply. end. -- either abruptly or gradually -- in a heap of muddled stubbies.
Our quest to delve into the dilemma involves both anthropologic and quantum mechanical apologues. Consciousness -- both in biological individuals and synthetic social groups -- appears to be dependent upon supportive groups that interact rapidly and reciprocally.
Please accept my apology for any misconstrued and ellipsed assertions. The material here is probably flawed and incomplete. However, it is sincerely hoped that the topic will cause a few of your syndeses to catalytically sputter, spark and zippily zoom toward the stratum of emergent apperceptions.
If you limit your clicking to only one hyperlink on this site, please, let it be this one. The article talks about why an existential "stupidity" is inherently necessitous "in our efforts to push our way into the unknown", and, (I would add) a sublimely integral aspect of Warnock's Dilemma.
Finally, a big thank you goes to Bryan Warnock: You've enchanted us to explore our nascent ontological soul lurking just below the surface. It's easy to imagine a future where far-reaching-problem-solving-frameworks will evolve directly from queries concerning Warnock's Dilemma.
